Michele Rivera: Data-driven solutions for our community

Collecting signatures to fight the 2020 tax increase on groceries

About Michele

My name is Michele Rivera and I have lived in the Millcreek/Holladay area for more than 10 years. I am a first-generation Latin-American, born of immigrant parents. I was the first in my family to graduate from college at Brigham Young University, where I received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Humanities and Minor in Portuguese. After graduating, I planted my roots in Millcreek, where I purchased my home.

I am tirelessly working towards better government with my community and political engagements. I have helped with local issues, including the 2020 Tax Referendum, where I gathered over 16 packets worth of signatures to stop the increase of sales tax on groceries. I have helped members of both major political groups run for office, because I believe in moving forward. I believe the work the government does should be financially transparent to the public. That is why I want to use my skills as a Data Engineer and Analyst to make the Mount Olympus Improvement District more accessible to the community. I have more than 10 years of experience in revenue, accounting, and cash collections analytics. I believe this makes me a strong candidate to serve this District.
